A member asked:

I am 87 and have continuous muscle spasm which starts in my left hand and spread all over my body. they have done blood tests for lupus and fibro malgia which are clear. please advise possible other causes.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Muscle spasms: Frequent diffuse muscle spasms can be caused by deficiencies of calcium, magnesium, potassium or sodium. If you haven't been tested for these,I suggest you discuss these possibilities with your physician. You could try taking some magnesium in the meantime as a trial. Another suggestion would be to consult a neurologist for evaluation.
