A member asked:

I think my bc may be too low of a dose because i experienced consecutive breakthrough bleeding. could this increase my chance of getting pregnant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bleeding on bcp's: Low dose oral bcp's are safer than the older strengths of bcp's, but it is important to take them "on time" within an hour of the previous day's active pill. This will prevent in most cases breakthrough bleeding. To reduce the chances of pregnancy, take only five days of the placebo pills and begin the next active pill cycle.
