Different: A bacterial sinus infection is not usually contagious but a cold is. The most likely transmissible time is a few days before the symptoms start up to the time when the symptoms become most severe. In case of a cold, it is best to allow at least 7 days to lapse + > 48 hrs after you have become symptom-free to approach someone who is immune compromised. This is just a rule of thumb.
