Stool guaiac test: A common first stem in evaluating such an issue would be to take a stool sample and perform a stool guaiac test. A simple color change for the clear reagent to blue indicates it was likely blood (or not). Anyone going to colonoscopy first with this history is likely looking for something to avoid boredom.
