A member asked:

I've had a sore throat for several weeks now, tried taking strepsils but not getting better, what could be the problem?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doctor can examine: Throat pain can be from strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies, irritants, or stomach acid reflux. Usually, a person sees a doctor if the sore throat illness is bothersome, coming with other symptoms, is recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (as in this case). Avoid smoking anything.
