Local infection?: This sort of thing usually is due to a localized infection or inflammation. If you have any sort of infection, cut, or sore of the left hand or arm, that's probably the explanation. If it continues and/or you remain concerned, see a doctor. Get care immediately if pain is severe, or if lots of soreness/redness of arm or hand, or if any fever.
