How long does blood clot in the lung take to break down? do you need to take warferin for full 6months?

Take as directed: Blood clots usually dissolve within a couple of weeks, but that's not the reason to take warfarin. The drug is intended to prevent new clots from forming, especially in deep leg or abdominal veins -- not to dissolve the initial clot that caused pulmonary embolism. Follow your doctor's advice about duration of treatment.
