I've been having palpitations and a fluttery heart. my gp says i am on too much thyroxine. is it dangerous for my heart? how does she know it's that?

Thyroid check: Hi. What do you mean too much thyroxine? Are you on thyroxine supplement or treatment? Have been checked with blood work. I suggest to ask your GP to order TSH and T4 in the blood. Also you may need And ECG. The reason why he said might be dangerous. If you have hyperthyroidism and you were not treatment. You may get Thyroid storm or what is called thyrotoxicosis. You need to follow up with GP

Yes: Hyperthyroidism or thyroid overreplacement can typically cause tachycardia or a fast heart rate as well as tachyarrhythmias, when heart is fast and irregular. Of course other causes cannot be ruled out, but too much thyroxine will have to be ruled out and a blood test may help in proving it. Trust your doc.
