Not sure : I have not heard of this specifically. However, there does appear to be a correlation between body shapes and the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. People that store their fat in the abdomen and are shaped like "apples" tend to develop diabetes when over weight. Those who store it in their bottoms and thighs "pears" are more resistant to diabetes. Then key is to keep the weight off.
