4 to 6 weeks: You mean you put on a splint. But the only way you can know if it is broken is by doing Xray.It may just be bruise or there may be a fracture. If it is broken it needs to be splinted for 3 to4 weeks and then move your finger to take the stiffness out.

Well: If you are certain it is fractured be sure it is straight. You should see a doctor for if you heal incorrectly it will bother you forever. But yes make sure straight and then buddy tape for 6 weeks

Safer: To get it checked and may need xray. A break may need a splint but also may need casting/other treatment. If not broken, wearing a splint for too long could do more harm than good longterm so it is quite important to get examined and know for certain either way broken vs not broken - then will be clear what treatment is required

Open & close ok?: One of the key things we are concerned with is whether your fingers remain in alignment when you open and close your fist (rotational deformity). If they do not you may need a procedure to straighten them, otherwise you may end up with a permanent disability. If you think the alignment is ok then you should expect it to have healed in 6-8 weeks.
