Can happen: Scabies mites burrow into the upper layers of your skin leaving fecal debris behind in their tracts.The formation of skin changes and itching is the bodies allergic response to the fecal debris. This can persist for a period after the mites are dead. An antihistamine taken by mouth along with an over the counter steroid scream may help with the skin & itching.
