History matters: I'm glad you are aware of dependency from use of narcotic drugs. Using narcotic pain medications like Norco, especially after oral surgery, is a common practice in dentistry. Alternating with Motrin helps reduce the total amount of Norco use. If you are using the dose according to your surgeon's advice, withdrawal is highly unlikely. It is more common after a long-term, or repeated use.
