Count the calories: With natural weight loss (by eating fewer calories and exercising more to use up stored fat), one loses fat from all body parts. It is hard to just lose the waist or the belly. Doing exercises to strengthen and build up the abdominal muscles can hold the tummy in better, which will improve the appearance of the tummy. Be sure to avoid sugar and simple starches (simple carbs).

Lifestyle: Is challenging to do. Need to pay attention to regualr exercise and healthy diet. A good place to start is your local green prescription programme throughout NZ. May wish to see your GP for this referral plus monitoring. In rare cases medications, tests for underlying conditions and even referral for surgery may be required if lifestyle measures alone come up short

Eat less: Is the obvious answer but smaller portions, healthier food along with a good solid exercise program. A good personal trainer or a gym that offers both of these services are a great place to start.
