Bone fill: Depending upon the location and size of the loss of bone from infection, the bone may or may not fill in completely. If there is healthy bone all around the abscess, it usually fills in over time and may take 2-4 for complete healing. If one or more sides of the bone were completely lost, usually not. Your own dentist can evaluate and discuss options.

No: Once a tooth is removed the supporting bone, no longer having a function, dissolves away. Bone can be surgically replaced. See your Dentist about techniques to replace the extracted tooth. Referral to Prosthodontist, Periodontist, or Oral Surgeon may be in order.
