Many causes: Muscle cramps are extremely common and many times we do not find a cause of them. However, there are reasons that need to be ruled out. For example, cramps/spasms can come from side effects to medications, electrolyte abnormalities, other neurologic conditions so you need an evaluation including a full neurologic exam, lab tests and possibly more specific nerve testing such as EMG/NCV testing

We really need: more information...where are the cramps....what is your general health like??? At your age (61) a number of possibilities exist as do the number of treatments available! Seek a "hands On" examination...start with your PCP (Primary Care Provider) Hope this is helpful Dr Z
