A member asked:

If a woman only has herpes in the genitals can somebody get herpes just from kissing that person?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sure: Kissing the infected genitals of the woman will let the kisser catch the herpes virus from the kissee, unless the kisser already had caught that same strain of herpes virus earlier in his life... in which case he should have immunity against catching that same strain a second time. That means a person with Herpes 1 and not Herpes 2, can catch Herpes 2 from another person but cannot catch Herpes 1.
