A member asked:

Good morning my platelet count has been low for many years always between 70/80. the latest test show my count has dropped to 47. what is the cause?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Need more info: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, your platelet count is not just low, it is dropping and warrants an evaluation by a hematologist. It is not amenable to a HealthTap consult. Wish you good health!
