Painful hard bump on scalp in back of head?

Bump on head: What were you doing before this happened? It could be a laceration from head trauma, abscess, allergic reaction to shampoo(although this would be itchy and not really painful). Go to your PCP so he can have a look at your head bump.

Seek medical attenti: You should describe this lump/bump in detail. When did it first appear and has it been growing in size? What is the present size? It can be infection, a blocked sebaceous gland being one common entity which can get inflamed and painful.If it is over 1 cm in size, you should seek medical attention from your doctor. You may need antibiotics if it is an infection. But it could also be something else
