Let him work it out: Sleeping is a natural event & babies are not "aware" that it is happening. They are only aware of their alert moments & often like to cling to them. If you are working to get him to sleep, please stop. Put him in the crib awake, sit nearby if you must, but let him settle without physical contact. He can cry if he wishes, let him. If you don't make this change now this will persist for years.
