Thyroid: Start with a general doctor, be it family medicine or internal medicine or even your gyne who can run some blood tests, do an exam and if needed, order an ultrasound of your thyroid.

Thyroid cancer: With your family history, it is reasonable to be a little extra cautious and get an evaluation of your thyroid. Your family doctor or GP should be able to initiate a solid work-up to include basic blood tests, hands-on palpation of your neck in the area of the thyroid gland, and possibly a sonogram of the thyroid. Further testing may also be needed. I wish you all the best in your effort.
