I am getting sharp pains on the right side of my head towards the back above my ear. it lasts for approximately 8 to 10 seconds.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

You may have: trigeminal neuralgia or occipital neuritis. These symptoms usually occur continuously or in episodes, with pain classified as intense burning or sharp needle like. They often are felt in parietal area above the ear and down behind the ear into the neck (trigeminal) or on cheek bone back towards the ear (trigeminal) or behind the head towards base of skull. There are medications for these.
