Need more info: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, the change in protein level per se is not of concern, however it needs to be determined why did the total level go up, especially if the gamma globulins have increased. You may discuss with your doctor if getting a
serum protein electrophoresis is warranted.
