A 28-year-old male asked:
difference between stress and anxiety? how are they treated? how are they diagnosed?
1 doctor answer • 6 doctors weighed in

Dr. Lawrence Smith answered
Clinical Psychology 30 years experience
May be synonymous: Often people say "i'm stressed, " when they mean "i'm anxious." but, not all stress leads to anxiety. If stress is defined as having a lot on one's plate and striving toward short and long-term goals, this does not necessarily lead to unpleasant anxiety. Perhaps this person is experiencing the flow of being engaged in life's challenges. Our interpretations of our circumstances affect how we feel.

A member asked:
How to stop blinking so much due to stress and anxiety?
1 doctor answer • 2 doctors weighed in

Dr. Vance Harris answered
Family Medicine 37 years experience
See a therapist: If the blinking and anxiety are definitely related to stress then i would seek out a therapist who can help you with some nonpharmacological treatments of anxiety and stress. This is one of the areas where relaxation techniques can be as effective as medication. See a good therapist or psychologist.
