i hear a popping sound followed by pain in the area where my achilles tendon is. this only happens whenever i stand on my tiptoes. what could be wrong?

Tendonitis: Any of a number of abnormalities in the Achilles' tendon itself would seem most likely among multiple potential considerations. I would not hesitate to be seen for it.
