Diet modification: Reduce the amount of milk products he eats including milk and juice. Increase the amount of fruits and vegetables he eats. Increase high fiber cereals and substitute whole wheat bread for white bread. Give him raisins and figs to eat as well as prunes.

Diet changes: include cutting back on white foods (milk, cheese, pasta, potatoes, rice, bananas), and adding two servings per day of stone fruits or their juices/nectars (plum, apricot, peach, nectarine, cherry) and pear. Beyond that, you might need to consider having your doctor recommend a small dose of medicine to soften stools.
