Knee pain: Visit an orthopaedic surgeon in clinic. The ligaments of your knee include the anterior /posterior cruciate ligaments that stop your tibia from going too far forward or back and your lateral and medical collateral ligaments that help keep your knee stabilized from forces that push it in our out. None of these are visualized on an x-ray, exam and MRI needed. Ligament injury can be suspected by Xray

Follow up: X-ray images show the bones well but not the soft tissues, including the ligaments. Unless the ligament pulled a piece of bone off as part of the injury, it's unlikely any accurate comment about the ligaments could be made from the x-ray alone. Rec you see an orthopod for exam and an MRI will show the soft tissues and ligaments well.
