Estrogen : If you are on birth control for estrogen therapy, skipping the placebos will give you a steady dose of estrogen through the month. They want you to start directly with the next pack when you hit the placebos. Having a good level of estrogen at your age can protect your bones. In other cases, skipping the placebo pills can prevent monthly periods in women who do not want a period every month.
