Viral Hepatitis B: Presence of hbeag is often associated with high levels of hbv dna in serum and higher rates of transmission. Hbeag to anti-hbe seroconversion (a good thing) occurs early in patients with acute infection, but can even take years & sometime it remains chronic. Vaccination of household members & sexual partner is of out most importance to help prevent horizontal transmission.

Infectious: This means you are positive for hepatitis b infection and actively infected with the virus in your blood & can pass the virus to others. Whether you have only recently been infected or whether this represents a chronic infection can't be answered from this isolated test. It is spread by sex contact, blood, body fluids, needles, and tattoos . Be sure you are being seen.
