Yes: what you are describing is pretty "classical" for subluxing (partial dislocating) ribs at the posterior cartilage connection with your spine.. UNFORTUNATELY you cannot "splint" your chest (you need to breathe / cough.. If the pain is severe an injection may be helpful!
