Oral Acyclovir !: Genital HSV 2 infection is best treated with oral Acyclovir 400 mg every 4 hours five times daily for 10 days to decrease viral shedding time and if treated within 48 hours of symptoms can sometimes abort the infection. Oral Acyclovir is best used for HSV 1 mild lip infections , Oral is better for treatment of both HSV 1 and HSV 2 ( Oral and Genital)
