A member asked:

I have a blue protruding vein (1cm bump) near my wrist for over a year now. does this mean i now have a history of forming blood clots, so i should not take meds such as birth control?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: I'm sorry anyone told you something so foolish. Occasionally peripheral veins dilate and this seems to be genetic. In the arm, they're basically never the result of an unknown deep blood clot. The illness leading to post deep vein thrombus in legs or (rarely, Mr. Stallone) arms is not subtle. I'm glad you're health-conscious but there's no concern here.
