Depends on severity: Sometimes people in manic states need to be on a psych ward, in which case, not really. Wiht the more common milder epeisodes , orienting to reality and having stability and reassurance is quite helpful.

Depends on his: Support system. If he is on treatment and stable even in your absence then it does not matter but if his symptoms get worse with your presence or absence then it matters
