A doctor has provided 1 answer

Often Too Long: In bipolar disorder type i, a true manic episode can last from days to weeks to months in some patients. Mania can be divided into three phases. First phase: the patient shows increased energy and feels productive. Second phase: decreased need for sleep, impulsive behaviors ie spending money. Third phase: racing thoughts, grandiose delusions, and evidence of psychosis. Mania can be devastating.
