Not much change: Science there is no decay in your tooth and assuming the original crown was well made the only tooth structure that will be removed will be minor refining to get the best tooth preparation as possible. You did not say why your crown chipped. Was it trauma or from a bad bite or grinding. If it was because of bite or grinding, deal with these things before the new crown.
