Probably: This type of symptom occurs with reflux, hiatal hernia, esophageal obstruction or motility disorder. A gastroenterologist is best qualified to evaluate and advise you for this symptom. In the meantime avoid fatty foods as they delay stomach emptying. Eat smaller feedings several times a day instead of large meals. Don't eat late at night and sleep with your chest higher than your abdomen.

Rash or irritability: Most food allergy presents with eczema - an allergic rash. Vomiting, diarrhea, poor weight gain, irritability or colic are other common presentations. Sometimes respiratory symptoms as asthma and ear infections may also be related to food allergy. Rarely blood in the stool may be caused by a food allergy.

If I had a body scan today, when can I restart taking my hormone medicine?

Depends on hormones : I think that would depend on the type of hormone you are talking about and the scan you had. If you didnt get instructions then check with your doctor first. Did you have a thyroid scan? Was it a bone scan or a density scan?

Check with the doc: Many blood pressure medications take longer than a week to have their full effect. Check with your doctor as you may need a higher dose or another medication. Hbp is damaging over the long term most of the time and not over a few days so check with your doctor.
A 43-year-old member asked:

Are there any herbal remedies for acid/gastric reflux?

1 doctor answer3 doctors weighed in
Dr. Charles Cattano
Gastroenterology 39 years experience
Should be treated: Gerd is common--present in about 70 million americans. As such, there are easy solutions if you have just symptoms. If however you have inflammation due to gerd, this can be progressive & needs to be controlled. Start with behavior & diet changes (see prior healthtap answers), add acid-blocker medications (either h2-blockers or ppi's). Get evaluated, especially if atypical, chronic &/or worsening.

When a person had a seizure, does it mean he has epilepsy?

1 doctor answer1 doctor weighed in
Dr. William Goldie
Pediatric Neurology 48 years experience
Not yet: A single seizure does not epilepsy make! a careful history and neurologic evaluation may determine that it was an incidental event. Recurrent seizures with specific findings on eeg, examination and MRI may lead to a diagnosis of epilepsy. Epilepsy is the clinical condition of a risk for seizures.
