I have a abscess tooth. i have been on strong antibiotics for 3 days. no improvement and i'm a diabetic.very swollen and painful. what should i do?

Call Dentist: As a diabetic medications do not always work the same as for a non-diabetic. Call your Dentist about whether he/she thinks you should be on an alternative antibiotic, or should be referred to an Endodontists or an Oral Surgeon.

Abscess: All tooth infections can be dangerous, even life threatening. It's more of a concern that you are a diabetic. You need to speak to your dentist immediately to have this re-evaluated! You may need a referral to a specialist. Check your blood sugar even more often meanwhile. If any changes for the worse- pain, swelling, difficulty breathing or swallowing or other symptoms, go to ER or 24/7 facility!
