Probably not a node: Pain or "pressure" alone, without obvious swelling or a mass (lump) under the skin, probably is not due to lymph node inflammation. If he is convinced he had a physical strain that could cause muscle pain (e.g. heavy lifting), that's probably what it is. But if uncertain and the problem continues, he should be professionally examined.
