Not necessarily: While it is possible, not typical, further questions may help differentiate the trigger for your symptoms. For example, what is the exact timing for the symptoms from the time you drink wine? Maybe positional? Do you ingest food also at the same time? What happens if you drink white wine? That will be critical in determining if the alcohol itself is involved or tannins found in red wine.

Pain: It may be referred pain from your GI system to your left shoulder. Try taking a PPI such as Prilosec or an H2 Antagonist such as Tagamet. If this gives you relief then I would suggest reducing your wine use to help. Good Luck
