Should a core biopsy sample be irradiated before it is sent for pathology?

Are you: referring to a breast biopsy? If they are confirming the presence of microcalcifications within the core samples, it is standard procedure to x-ray them. It won't affect the pathology analysis. If they are not looking for calcifications, they generally don't need to be x-rayed.
