Review needed: The abscess may not be responding to the treatment - either because not sensitive to the antibiotics or because a collection has developed that the antibiotics cant penetrate, or the diagnosis may not be correct and there may be another cause. Urgent dental or medical assessment is required here. All the best.

Tooth abscess: Antibiotics alone cannot remove the cause of the infection and therefore is insufficient to solve the problem. What did your dentist tell you regarding the cause? Periodontal, Endodontic or other cause? What treatment was recommended in addition to a course of antibiotics? You need to contact the dentist who placed you on the antibiotics for advice and possible referral to a specialist.

Call Dentist now: Antibiotic will reduce spread of infection, but tooth must be treated to eliminate the infection. You may need physical dental treatment now and/or change in antibiotic. Make the decision with your Dentist.
