A member asked:

The bottom of my left jaw is bigger than the other and it bulges out causing my face to look unsymmetrical. is this an issue with my wisdom teeth or salivary glands? or could it be because i chew on one side more than the other?

Asymmetry: None of us have perfectly symmetrical faces. We all have a strong side and a weak side. Barring anatomic abnormality or lesion, this may just be normal genetic expression. See an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon or a Plastic Surgeon for evaluation.

Cause of asymmetry?: It's unlikely to be related to either wisdom teeth, salivary glands or chewing pattern. See your General Dentist first for a complete and thorough clinical and radiographic examination. He/she may refer you to an Orthodontist if it's deemed appropriate.
