A member asked:

Will taking tetralysal antibiotics for my skin reduce the effectiveness of my oral contraceptive at all? (18 year old girl speaking)

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sounds ok: The current thinking is that except for rifampin, other commonly-used antibiotics do not alter the effectiveness of birth control pills. This is likely true, presuming a person is not sick with vomiting or diarrhea, or some other condition that decreases the absorption of a swallowed pill.
