Complex vs.: complicated: according to ACR BIRADS, a complicated cyst is a cyst with thin internal septation or debris, and is a benign or probably benign finding. A complex "cyst" is a mass with cystic and solid components, and is a suspicious finding for which biopsy is usually recommended. Anyone using the two terms interchangeably is using them incorrectly.
