See below: The most common complications of having blood drawn (venipuncture) are minor bruising and hematoma. Less common and potentially more serious complications include phlebitis (vein inflammation), cellulitis (tissue inflammation), and neuralgia (nerve inflammation/injury) all of which "may" require some form of specific treatment. Recommend seeking prompt medical evaluation for bothersome symptoms.
