Knee pain: The most common injections or shots given for knee pain are steroid shots better known as cortisone injections. There are also lubricating medications that are indicated for knee pain. These are given once a week for a course of 2-5 weeks. These include drugs such as Hymovis, Hyalgan, and Orthovisc. These are usually given by a rheumatologists or an orthopedic surgeon.
