If the doctor said they found something and sent you for an mri brain scan is it serious?

The question: Is too general to answer. Mri can add information about a large number issues in the skull and brain. Best to ask your doctor what the concerns are.

Not necessarily: Your question suggests that there was something that was found on a different scan (ie. X-ray or ct scan). The MRI is often done to further clarify the initial abnormal finding. It may or may not be serious. You need to ask your ordering physician to clarify.
