A member asked:

Read that most liver and kidney cysts appear in people over age 50, so why do i have them at age 35?? (found incidentally on ct scan)

Who knows?: These are one of the minor mysteries of medicine. When they occur together at a young age, I've thought perhaps it's a minor variant at the genetic locus for polycystic kidney disease (which often features liver cysts). It's not worth even thinking about. Older folks get more kidney cysts because of vascular changes (maybe) and mutations (maybe). Or it could be dumb luck. Don't worry about it.
