Back to dentist: Sounds like you are on antibiotics so you really need to call the dentist and return right away

Oral Abscess : Good day; Suggest returning to dentist who completed root canal and evaluate abscess. May require another procedure or consultation with colleague.

Dentist: ER would give you antibiotics, if you were not on them already, and then send you on to the Dentist. Skip the middle man, go directly to the General Dentist or Endodontists (root canal specialist) that treated you. Sounds like more dental treatment is in order.
