Sandflies : Sandflies are capable of transmitting bartonellosis (bacterial infection) & leishmaniasis (parasitic). Both can cause cutaneous (skin) manifestation. The former is endemic to andean regions of peru, columbia & ecuador. Leishmaniasis has been reported in all parts of the world except australia & antarctica. Therapy is different for these condition. Prevention of vector transmission is key.
