A member asked:

My t3 levels have been low consistently, tsh normal, t4 on the high end of normal. is the low t3 anything to be concerned about?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hypothyroid and T3: If the TSH is normal, then that is strong evidence that you are normal. Pituitary TSH responds mostly to T3. If you T3 were too low, the TSH should be high. Indeed, I am not sure why T3 is being measured. There are more problems with the T3 assay than that of T4. This could just be "lab error".
